Deb Barbour, Managing Principal of the New York office, was a founder of ZGF’s Los Angeles office in 1988, and who since, has been a leader in the development of the firm’s business strategies and services. During her tenure, the firm has amassed a diverse portfolio of public and private commissions. Over the past six years, she has played a very significant role in guiding and nurturing the growth of ZGF’s New York and Washington, DC offices, and in 2017, assuming the leadership of the New York office as Managing Principal. With more than 40 years of experience in the architectural profession—over 30 of which have been at ZGF—Deb has mentored generations of colleagues, while promoting and advancing excellence in design. She has also been involved in the development and delivery of nationally recognized projects for clients that have included Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Wexford Science & Technology, California Science Center, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, J. Craig Venter Institute, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, the University of California, and the U.S. Department of State. She has also continually supported client fundraising and brand identity programs. As a strategist, Deb has inspired building industry peers through her demonstrated leadership. She is recognized by both clients and industry colleagues as possessing a unique combination of skill, sensitivity and creativity, exemplifying the highest standard for professional services. Deb attended Arizona State University and earned a Bachelor of Architecture. She is a Member of the American Institute of Architects and Urban Land Institute, New York Building Congress, and a former Board Member and President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, and a past Leonardo Award recipient.
