Jan Willemse approaches the creation of the built environment as a synthesis of art and science, infused with a strong sense of social responsibility and environmental stewardship. As partner and technical design lead for ZGF’s Vancouver office, Jan researches and implements strategies that support design and innovation, and as a leader of ZGF’s Project Performance Team he focuses on the intelligent application of sustainable systems and materials. He applies his knowledge to a variety of complex projects to ensure that design intent, as a reflection of clients' goals, manifests itself in all aspects of the project. Jan’s project experience ranges from children's hospitals in Portland, Denver and Iowa; to the net zero Rocky Mountain Institute Innovation Center; projects for Stanford University and the University of California San Francisco; and the world’s largest LEED ND smart city project in Kashiwa-no-ha Japan.
