Kate Freels leads teams in the design of environmentally-sustainable workplace, academic, research, and healthcare projects, including award-winning local projects for Daniels Real Estate, Seattle Children’s, and Cascade Bicycle Club. She brings strong consensus-building skills to each project and fosters collaboration among all project stakeholders, engaging owners, occupants, and community members in the delivery of exceptional architecture. She was a founding member of ZGF’s Diversity & Inclusion Advocacy Group, a firmwide group initiated in 2013 to champion issues relative to gender and racial equity in the workplace and broader AEC industries. She has also represented ZGF at the American Institute of Architects Women’s Leadership Summit, seeking solutions for gender parity in the profession. Kate is a 2018 graduate of Seattle’s Leadership Tomorrow program, and is an elected member of the Seattle CREW Board of Directors, which fosters business, networking, and leadership opportunities for the success of women in commercial real estate. During the 2019-2020 academic year, Kate will chair the University of Washington’s Professional Advisory Committee for the Department of Architecture.
