Sue Ann Barton

Sue Ann Barton is a Principal in the Portland office with 37 years of professional experience in healthcare design. Her portfolio includes hospital campus master plans, children's hospitals, adult acute care hospitals, medical clinics, and other healthcare-related projects. Sue Ann brings to the team a national perspective on healthcare issues and trends, with an emphasis on translating building programs into the most appropriate environments for patients, families, and staff. Her recent project experience includes the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and the Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center, with the latter being named Best of the Year in Healthcare by Interior Design magazine. Sue Ann has a particular expertise in the application of Evidence-Based Design principles, having worked with multiple Pebble Project® partners. She is actively involved in studies analyzing the impact of the design of the physical environment in children’s hospitals on patient safety, medication errors, and stress reduction for staff. Sue Ann has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Oregon.
