Deb Barbour, Managing Principal of the New York office, was part of the original three-person team that opened ZGF’s Los Angeles office in 1988, and who since, has been a leader in the development of the firm’s business strategies, markets, and services. During her tenure, the firm has amassed a diverse portfolio of public and private commissions. Over the past four years, she has played a very significant role in guiding and nurturing the growth of ZGF’s New York and Washington, DC offices. With more than 40 years of experience in the architectural profession—nearly 30 of which have been at ZGF—Deb has inspired generations of colleagues, promoting and advancing excellence in design. She has been involved in the development and delivery of nationally recognized projects for clients that have included the California Science Center, the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, J. Craig Venter Institute, Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago, Wexford Science & Technology, the University of California, and the U.S. Department of State. She has also continually supported client fundraising and branding programs. As a strategist and mentor, Deb has inspired her industry peers through her demonstrated leadership and desire to contribute to others in our business. She is recognized by both clients and industry representatives as possessing a unique combination of skill, sensitivity and creativity, exemplifying the highest standard for professional services. Deb attended Arizona State University and earned a Bachelor of Architecture. She is a Member of the American Institute of Architects and Urban Land Institute, and a former Board Member and President of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services, and a past Leonardo Award recipient.
