John Thompson has 37 years of experience in architecture, planning, and urban design. As a Principal Designer in the Portland office, he has orchestrated teams on many of the firm’s more technically complex projects for clients ranging from Fortune 500 companies and healthcare systems to numerous public sector entities. His background includes a diverse mix of urban design and site planning, research and laboratory buildings, museums, convention centers, airports, offices, and educational facilities. John’s recent experience involves the largest private developer-led project in the nation at the time of construction, and projects that have garnered design Honor Awards from the AIA Northwest & Pacific Region and the AIA Portland and Honolulu chapters. His long-term relationships with clients, such as the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Oregon Health & Science University, and Providence Health & Services, have comprised of projects ranging from small-scale studies to a 490,000 SF expansion. John attended Iowa State University and has both his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and his Master of Architecture.
