Peter van der Meulen
AIA, LEED AP®
Peter van der Meulen is an architect with 37 years of professional experience in the design of technically complex and large scale academic, scientific research, commercial, and government projects. During his tenure at ZGF, his responsibilities have grown to include project development, project management, conceptual design, and design execution, as well as technical and sustainable design. Peter has found great satisfaction in promoting technical design excellence and accountability on projects, with a focus on energy performance, responsible application of building methods and materials, and natural resource conservation through design exploration. He takes special pride in working for the U.S. State Department on numerous projects. Through his work and leadership, Peter has helped to build the sustainable design practice and culture at ZGF. Under his leadership, precedent-setting LEED projects have created important benchmarks toward sustainable and evidence-based design and construction. He has a Bachelor of Architecture from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Architecture from the University of Washington.
