ENR Northwest Names Block 44 Among 2015 Best Projects

Engineering News Record (ENR) Northwest announced the winners of its annual Best Projects Awards this month, recognizing Block 44 as the Best Office/Retail/Mixed-Use project in the region. Overall quality, innovation, the project’s safety record, and the team’s ability to overcome challenges informed the jury’s selection.

Block 44 is comprised of two buildings connected by an overhead bridge, totaling 375,000 SF at the prominent corner of Westlake Ave. and Mercer Street in Seattle’s burgeoning South Lake Union neighborhood. ZGF designed the high-performance office building to provide  an optimal workplace environment  to prominent companies and institutions such as Amazon, the Gates Foundation, the Allen Institute for Brain Science, Google, and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
