For the first time in 28 years, the Phoenix Suns advanced to the NBA Finals. What was the secret to their success? As always there’s a deeper story. While the dynamic duo of Devin Booker and Chris Paul was a standout factor, to create a powerhouse team that can go hard in the paint, the real work happens away from the arena. One pivotal player behind the scenes of the Suns’ big run was their new ZGF-designed training facility, the Verizon 5G Performance Center.
According to Forbes, “there may be no NBA practice facility transformation as profound as the Suns. The team is moving from the basement of the 1992-built downtown arena into the modern, spacious confines of a facility in the shadow of Camelback Mountain.”
The Suns’ new facility was designed to support the “whole player” and the creation of a cohesive team. And it seems to be working! Our designers collaborated closely with owner Robert Sarver, players like Booker himself, coaches, and management to anticipate players’ every need, from all aspects of training to recovery and nutrition, as well as tending to mind and (team) spirit.
