This week, Children’s Hospital Los Angeles moved nearly 200 patients into the new, ZGF-designed Marion and John E. Anderson Pavilion. The award-winning 317-bed, 494,283 SF Pavilion provides acute-care pediatric facilities, diagnostic and ancillary services, and a level I emergency department / trauma center. The move was featured in the Los Angeles Times, which says, “To add an element of surprise, the children were not told about their spacious, colorfully decorated new rooms ahead of time. Manny Hernandez, the first patient to transfer to the new building, raved about his room’s ceiling — a painted blue sky with butterflies — and the bathroom.”
