This November, ZGF was one of six firms invited by Turnstone to design a custom table top for their new Bassline table collection, which is intended to define the office, hint at the culture, and set the tone for work. Inspired by the dedicated work of the Women’s Foundation of Oregon, our team of six designers focused on a design to evoke the Foundation’s uplifting role in empowering and improving the lives of women and girls throughout the state.
The stunning table features all locally-sourced wood, donated by Sustainable Northwest Wood, highlighting a collection of species evocative of the Pacific Northwest. Through all the wood variations a unifying element appears – a white Corian inlay representative of the significant statistics identified in the Foundation’s Count Her In Report, the first comprehensive report on the inequities faced by Oregon’s women and girls.
The design process culminated with an event at SmithCFI’s Portland showroom, where our design story and inspiration was shared with the Foundation, fellow participating design firms and greater design community.
As a thank you for their continued work in empowering women and girls, ZGF and Turnstone donated the table to the Women’s Foundation of Oregon for use in their Portland office.
