The wings include a mix of single rooms, traditional doubles, divided doubles, and a number of rooms specifically designed to be ADA-accessible, including some with kitchenettes to accommodate students with severe food allergies. The ground floor also features a state-of-the-art multipurpose classroom, which opens directly to a campus quad area established by the new building. The basic palette—Roman brick in texturally rich neutral tones, copper panels that will attain patina over time, glass and wood—are all elements of the Reed architectural vernacular that have been reimagined or used in innovative ways.

The contemporary use of glass, both in the floor-to-ceiling student-room windows and in the window walls at the central lounge, creates interior spaces filled with natural light while providing occupants with a heightened connection to nature. The terrace offers a dramatic, sweeping view of Portland’s West Hills. Trillium features solar panels, a high-performance envelope, lower-flow and energy efficient appliances and fixtures, and a design that reduces the urban heat effect.
