Public Relations / Communications Manager – Los Angeles, CA

• Develops and executes strategies that promote the leadership, projects, vision and “brand” of ZGF to the media with an emphasis on the business press, vertical trade publications, and the major news media outlets
• Coordinates placement of articles in the press; annual survey responses; and responds to public and media inquiries with support from others on marketing and leadership team
• Provides timely and informed responses to media inquiries; identifies opportunities for press releases and media alerts
• Maintains existing and builds new relationships with the media and other relevant organizations; train and support key senior leadership in meeting with editors and journalists in the vertical trade publications and other media
• Coordinates development and distribution of press kits and other material for media outreach
• Identifies key speaking opportunities for senior leadership and clients within various market sectors; coordinates submission of proposals for speaking engagements at conferences
• Oversees identification of, and submissions to, awards programs
• Plans, develops, and oversees internal communications
• Directly manages, mentors, and works alongside a collaborative team of smart, enthusiastic PR / Communications professionals
• Monitors and reports on the effectiveness of our PR efforts
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of public relations or media experience with a track record of increasing responsibility and results
• Experience in, or exposure to the architectural design community and the design profession; appreciation of the special character of ZGF’s design values
• Excellent writing, editing, and research skills (proven ability to write content, communications plans, executive speaking points, etc.)
• Media relations expertise, media skills, and established media contacts
• Proven understanding and effective use of social media platforms and communications tools
• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with both peers and senior members of the firm
• Proven ability to manage projects and client relationships
• Good judgment
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to juggle multiple tasks; work efficiently under multiple deadlines
• A collaborative and team-oriented disposition; experience managing and mentoring a team with a collaborative approach
• A strong work ethic
• A sense of humor and grace under pressure
• Relentless attention to detail
• Able to travel to other ZGF offices and/or client project locations as needed
• Work often requires repetitive movement of the wrists, hands and/or fingers
• Concentrated mental and/or visual attention; work involves performing tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications
