ZGF New York seeks a Senior Architect/Interior Designer with 10+ years of experience committed to design innovation, building craft, and environmental stewardship. Our New York office, a small studio with the resources of a large firm, works on diverse projects of various scales.
We are looking for a well-rounded, strategic thinker with an integrated approach to design, design management, project stewardship and technical project resolution to lead and manage projects. The successful candidate will contribute knowledge and design expertise to the overall growth of the office. Assuming a leadership role, they will play a key role in the design and technical development of interior spaces, from space planning and concept through realization. The successful candidate will collaborate with project teams to develop interior environments for a variety of project types from commercial office workplace to higher education, wellness and research. They will be responsible for independently organizing and supervising design teams, participating in presentations and interviews, building and maintaining day-to-day relationships with clients and with consultants, and working collaboratively to find creative solutions to project challenges.
Qualifications include the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, clients, consultants, and contractors; direct working experience with project stakeholders; directing project teams from concept design through construction; a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, in New York City particularly; as well as a passion for architectural detailing and knowledge of construction standards.
Proficiency in the Adobe Suite, Microsoft Suite, Revit and/or AutoCad, is required. Prior experience in ZGF’s core markets of workplace, education, wellness and research is also required; expertise in furniture selection / specifications is strongly preferred. Applicants must have a professional Architectural or Interior design degree. Licensed Architects and NCIDQ/CID Interior Designers with LEED accreditation are preferred.
