Senior Marketing Manager – Portland, OR

Working under the direction of the office leadership team, the Senior Marketing Manager will be a key member of the firmwide marketing team. The position entails a wide range of marketing activities, including but not limited to deep research and intelligence gathering; development of strategic pursuits for new work; writing and producing statements of qualifications, proposals and interview presentations. The successful candidate will bring a strong design sensibility, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to structure complex information and content into effective storytelling, regardless of the medium.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, or  design-related field
  • 8 to 10 years of directly applicable experience in professional services marketing within the A/E/C industry
  • Ability to communicate complex information and ideas into effective storytelling through a variety of medium – oral, written, and graphic
  • Ability to think strategically
  • Ability to organize use of time in a fast-paced environment, completing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Extensive experience developing and managing complex proposals, presentations, and sales or proposal processes
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; strong graphic design sensibilities
  • Sound professional judgment, strong work ethic, positive and client focused
  • Experience managing teams of people with demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and provide constructive criticism in a team setting and one-on-one
  • A detailed knowledge of marketing procedures, work processes, and tools, along with evidence of past successful management of marketing projects and teams
  • Has the ability to both lead and participate in team environments
  • Proficiency in InDesign and PowerPoint is required; working knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, and database programs such as Deltek Vision and Axomic OpenAsset is preferable
  • Able to travel to other ZGF offices and/or client project locations as needed

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and maintains network of industry contacts, i.e., consultants, contractors, architectural colleagues, clients; cultivates leads and gathers intelligence through network
  • Assists the Director of Marketing in developing marketing approaches, including pre-proposal positioning where appropriate, as well as proposal development strategies and implementation
  • Researches and understands competitors and industry trends
  • Leads a team of support staff in preparation and production of proposals for efforts of varying sizes and types from small to large pursuits, as well as major strategic efforts
  • Leads the development and production of SOQs, proposals, and presentations to produce client-focused documents and presentations that meet RFP requirements and are consistent with win strategy
  • Develops and maintains professional relationships with clients, consultants, contractors, and other professional colleagues
  • Attends community and industry events and conferences
  • Develops, captures, and publishes marketing-related information and documents
  • Manages multiple tasks in a deadline-oriented environment
  • Oversees local marketing team and manages personnel growth and development; ensures staff are trained on ZGF policies, procedures, templates, and systems
  • Contributes to firmwide marketing initiatives that are integral to the firm
  • Assists in the development and management of marketing budget for local office
  • Attends community and industry events and conference
