This research study, conducted by ZGF in association with Swinerton Builders and an expert partner team, explores how to apply mass timber construction in healthcare settings.

This proof of concept, “Mass Timber Hospital: The Future of Healthcare” is a collaboration with ZGF Architects, Swinerton Builders, Timberlab, Degenkolb, Arup, University of Oregon Institute for Health in the Built Environment, PeaceHealth, KPFF, Jensen Hughes, and Pierce McVey. The report documents our research and shares the barriers impeding mass timber construction in acute care settings, explores strategies and solutions, and offers guidance for increasing usage.
