Cascade Bicycle Club, Headquarters

Workplace

ZGF designed the two-phased, 8,000 SF headquarters for the largest independent bicycling organization in the nation. The facility expresses the club’s mission of creating a sense of community amongst a diverse group of cyclists while supporting their educational mission and advocacy initiatives. Located in the barracks of a former naval base, the project was conceived in four spatial zones—the clubhouse, office space, a multipurpose room and exterior pavilion and traffic garden—to cater to the workplace needs of CBC’s 40 employees, while also creating an iconic gathering space accessible to nearly 16,000 members. Inside the clubhouse a reception area, community kitchen, and lounge welcome members and offer a place to relax and use refueling stations. Adjacent to the clubhouse, the daylit open plan workspace is supported by a number of open and closed meeting spaces. The multipurpose room supports CBC’s educational goals, providing space for all age workshops, children’s camps, and community events. The education component extends to an exterior pavilion and traffic garden which provide additional social and training space.
