ZGF programmed and designed the 105,200 SF critical access hospital. The new facility provides 25 inpatient beds and outpatient services to the community. Using a Lean, cross-functional approach, caregivers from all departments participated in seven Integrated Design Events to collectively make decisions that enhanced operational efficiency and patient-centered care. Outcomes included a building 50% smaller than the previous hospital, a singular streamlined admissions process that reduces wait times, enhanced wayfinding, reduced travel distances, and a 90% increase in staff satisfaction. Sited to maximize natural daylight and views to nature, the hospital flanks a healing garden, a metaphorical heart for the Pendleton community.
