Spurs Club

Interiors

The first members-only lounge in the NBA belongs to the San Antonio Spurs. Located on the third floor of The Rock at La Cantera, the franchise’s global headquarters and home to the Victory Capital Performance Center, Spurs Club offers an exclusive look into the organization’s professional operations. The Club was built into the team’s training facility to heighten engagement and support fandom within South Texas’s basketball community. It was also placed in this location to provide a venue for fans to connect with the brand and celebrate the team away from the buzz of the arena—both on game days and during the off-season.

Spurs Club occupies a mezzanine level inside the team’s training facility overlooking the practice courts. This gives members unprecedented viewing access of team executives, coaches, and players in action. Complete with multiple lounge, bar, and fine dining settings, the chef-driven hospitality environment provides members an enviable experience: exclusive behind-the-scenes access in a setting that captures the spirit of the Spurs and the essence of San Antonio.

Spurs Club members enjoy an array of luxury amenities accessed by a private elevator.

Just outside the entry, the Terrace Lounge provides hospitality scale and comfort with visual connections out to Frost Entertainment Plaza and the greater San Antonio community.

Spurs Club elicits the comfort of Texas hospitality: memorable, welcoming, and thoughtfully curated. Designed to be the ideal atmosphere for social interactions, the vibrant space is curated for multiple settings and experiences. From environments for focus, to atmospheres for cocktails and dining, members can work, network, forge social and business connections, have watch parties, or lounge leisurely, all while cultivating meaningful relationships built around the culture of basketball and love for San Antonio.

Set within the largest mass timber training center of its kind for professional athletes, the interior design celebrates the surrounding natural landscape and local artists and craftsmanship, while at once reinforcing the mass timber structure. Cross-laminated timber, glulam beams, and polished concrete are left exposed in their natural state, while local limestone, heritage oak, and leather offer a Texan sense of craft.

The Club presents a departure from the traditional game day environment, providing a sophisticated setting for comradery and leisure.

Inspired by the qualities of Texas Modernism, the space recalls the cultural heritage of the team’s hometown. The design echoes the indigenous qualities of Texas architecture and is influenced by the work of O’Neil Ford, the iconic architect and native Texan known for using warm tones, natural elements, and simple geometry. Textural timber moments, expressed through screens, doors, slats, and the interior architecture of the mass timber training facility bring a sense of natural beauty and simplicity, reminiscent of Ford’s work. This approach harmoniously integrates the nature of hospitality design within the training facility, rooting the Club in a sense of place while complementing the clean lines of the modern architecture.

Subtle nods to the Spurs’ brand are thoughtfully reflected in the design, such as the artful integration of the rowel—the star-shaped element of the iconic spur in the team’s logo. While the Spurs’ logo traditionally features only six points, with the seventh being covered by the yoke and shank of the spur. The Club’s design features the rowel on its own, revealing the seventh point. This choice is a nod to the fans who, according to urban legend, are the team’s true driving force. The seven-point rowel is custom carved into the millwork throughout the Club, appearing in thresholds between lounge spaces and in the mirrored design of the speakeasy-style Fortress Bar.

Spherical light fixtures create a subtle nod to the game's namesake.

Genius bars and varied seating arrangements in the Fiesta Lounge accommodate members and their needs throughout the day. Taking fandom to a new level, members work and play in an environment that celebrates the Spurs in premiere style.

Members gather, entertain, and unwind at the first-of-its-kind chef-driven social club, with culinary creations by Chef Steve McHugh.

To create a sense of intimacy within a shared space, bespoke booths with extra tall seat backs impart a semi-private fine dining experience.

Beyond the wood double doors clad in custom-carved rowels lies the Fortress Lounge. This space extends the lounge and fine dining ambiance of the Club, while introducing its own unique identity. The space is characterized by the Spurs' primary brand color, with black leathers and wood materials, and enlivened with the team’s vintage Fiesta colors that symbolize San Antonio’s diverse population. Offering a speakeasy sensibility, the Fortress Lounge lends itself to the adaptability needed to host private watch parties, large gatherings, or flex into an openly available space for all members to enjoy. When the Spurs are on the courts, the glass transitions from opaque black to transparent glazing, affording an eye to the team in an atmosphere marked by a sleek and sultry expression of the Spurs brand and Texas modernism.

Ethan Cook's custom series for the Club, titled "Spurs I, II, III, IV, V", draws inspiration from the history of the team's brand colors. The Fiesta colors include orange, pink, and teal, seen in the team’s logo from 1990 – 2002. Since then, the team’s logo has sported black and gray—all represented in Cook’s series. Each piece is made from handwoven cotton and linen, highlighting a dedication to craftsmanship.
